Proud of the Past

Established in 1982, Jeff Paul Custom Homes was built on a firm foundation of experience and passion. However, Jeff knew there was much more to home building than a set of plans and raw materials - there needed to be more than mere construction. While each home is uniquely different, one core belief remained the same - to us, building relationships is just as revered as building beautiful homes. Together with our discerning clients, accomplished architects and designers, dedicated construction team, and masterful craftsmen, Jeff Paul Custom Homes has solidified its reputation as one of the most respected custom builders in the area - from Bentwater to Bluejack, the heart of The Woodlands to the heart of Houston.

The operation was purposefully kept simple, intentionally kept dependable, and naturally kept personable. In the early days this practice seemed effortless, but over the decades, as the craft of custom home building began morphing into a complex machine, Jeff and his wife Diane made a conscious effort to stay true to their core beliefs - forging a path for the Future.

This is how a Legacy is made.

Born into the business, Ryan always loved building whatever his imagination could conjure up and helping out Dad on the jobsites by sweeping out houses - Jeff Paul Custom Homes’ first unpaid intern! He would later go on to have an actual paid internship with the company, but first he would have to do a bit of living.

Moving to The Woodlands in third grade, he spent a fair amount of his childhood just being a kid - riding his bike around the neighborhoods, hanging out with his buddies, and playing sports. Upon graduating from The Woodlands High School in 1998, where he excelled in both academics and multiple sports, Ryan attended Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi to play basketball on scholarships. During college he held many leadership positions in various clubs, gave back with volunteer work, and interned for mortgage and financial advising companies. Ryan acquired a solid education from the Liberal Arts school, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Minor in Finance in 2002.

Studying and basketball were not the only priorities in life for him. At Millsaps, Ryan met and later married his Mississippi Miss, Sarah, in 2006. Since 2009 they have lived in the esteemed community of Eagle Pointe in Woodforest with their two amazing children, Cason and Claire. Even though he is now a busy home builder, husband, and dad, Ryan still loves to play and watch sports, but especially loves watching his kids from the sideline in whatever sport they are currently interested in - mostly basketball and volleyball. The family is a founding member and incredibly involved in The Church at Woodforest, a satellite campus of The Woodlands Methodist Church that Ryan grew up in. Ryan has fulfilled opportunities to serve on the Church Building Committee as their campus expands and enriches the community. Ryan and his wife Sarah are proud supporters of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society - an organization close to their hearts.

Transitioning from unpaid intern, to paid intern, to a full-time career, Ryan officially joined Jeff Paul Custom Homes in 2002 - fulfilling a life-long dream to work side by side with his father, whom he deeply respects and admires. In his years with the company, Ryan has added many tools to his tool belt, including but not limited to, construction of over 60 homes, project management, plan design, home pricing, marketing, and operations management - a vital player in the company's longevity and success.

Just as every day in the home building industry is completely different from the one before, Ryan appreciates that every custom home project is completely different from the one before. Build after build, his passion for building grows, with each homeowner’s story coming to life in every custom home he is a part of. His building career has flown by, which makes sense because he is having a blast!

Ryan has achieved the highly coveted Graduate Master Builder (GMB) and Certified Green Professional (CGP) designations through the NAHB. As the industry continues to change, Ryan finds it necessary to partake in continuing education courses and seminars through the GHBA.

Watching his parents work from their small home office to establish a successful home building company, and after countless jobsite visits with Dad, Kevin has heartwarming childhood memories full of building adventures - even including that one time he stepped on a nail when he was 6.

Born in Houston and raised in The Woodlands, he always seemed to gravitate towards classic 90s building toys like Legos, Lincoln Logs, and Erector Sets - building structures for hours. In high school, Kevin focused on his academics while also playing varsity basketball. This is when he discovered a passion for art and music - teaching himself to play several instruments and enrolling in as many art electives as he could.

Knowing building and engineering were in his future, at Texas A&M University Kevin received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Construction Management, a Project Management Certification, and a Minor in Business - excelling in one of the leading engineering programs in the country. During school breaks, Kevin would often hop on a flight to anywhere in the world - expanding his outlook with trips to New Zealand, Australia, many countries in Europe, and studying abroad for a semester in Spain.

After graduating from Texas A&M in 2006, Kevin was honored to join the prominent general contractor, Linbeck Group, and had the privilege to work on impressive projects such as the Baylor College of Medicine Hospital in the Med Center, Co-Cathedral Downtown Houston, CSI Project Heartbeat, and UTMB Hurricane Ike Repair & Mitigation. While ‘cutting his teeth’ in commercial construction, he received certifications and training in Building Information Modeling, OSHA 30-Hour Safety, and LEED.

In 2013, the timing was right to bring his building talents to the family business and truly focus on enriching the Jeff Paul Custom Homes brand. Though he is a Principal of the company, Kevin feels compelled to still be out in the field, with his crews, getting the job done, however, you can also find him in the office getting the job done there, as well!

Kevin and his wife Stephanie, a Design Coordinator for the company, reside in Memorial West and are very proud parents of their two young children, Hugh and Daphne - who keep the days busy with school, youth sports, ballet and gymnastics, and community happenings. To take a break from home building, Kevin enjoys playing guitar and piano, collecting vinyl records, serving on the school board of their local church’s weekday school, and traveling when the construction schedule allows. To keep his engineering mind sharp, he especially enjoys tinkering on his ’78 Bronco - for which there is always something to tinker with!

Kevin has achieved the highly coveted Graduate Master Builder (GMB) designation through the NAHB. As the industry continues to change, Kevin partakes in continuing education courses and seminars through the GHBA - on which he has served as a GHBA Custom Builders Council Board member.

Building roots were firmly planted for Jeff during his childhood growing up in the temperate climate of lowa. Art classes, building model airplanes, HO train sets, and pulling a little red wagon delivering newspapers in the snow, all set the foundation of his standards for a hard work ethic and career in the building business. With a family move from lowa to the northern perimeter of the Dallas area in Richardson, Texas, Jeff excelled in varsity basketball and received an athletic scholarship to Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. In those days, the college offered an engineering program specifically in home building - from which Jeff graduated with his degree in 1975.

Jumping right into the home building business upon graduating, Jeff's work career started with Marvin Henry Builders, supervising the construction of homes on Lake Conroe and in the Memorial area of Houston. The next landing spot was Pace and Co. Builders, where Jeff quickly rose through the ranks from supervising homes, to chief estimator, then to head of construction.

Fulfilling a lifetime goal, in 1982, Jeff with his high school sweetheart and wife, Diane, founded Jeff Paul Custom Homes and joined the Greater Houston Builders Association. His first homes were built in the Spring, Texas area and ranged in price from $120,000-$250,000. Diane, with her teaching degree from The University of Texas, and math expertise, took control of the finances while Jeff focused on the home builds.

The Woodlands came calling in 1986 asking Jeff to be included in their growing custom builder group - which brought a family move to The Woodlands in 1989. Here Jeff and Diane built their own JPCH home, which they still live in to this day, and raised their three sons, Ryan, Kevin and Eric. As the decades have rolled on, Jeff has continued to excel in the community's custom home luxury market.

Looking to expand the company's program, Ryan, the oldest son, joined the family business in 2002. Kevin was then asked to join in 2013 as a presence in the Houston Metro area - utilizing his commercial construction background as an asset for the company. Eric, the youngest son, has a solid career outside the building world in global digital transformation consulting.

Jeff and Diane are long time members of The Woodlands Methodist Church and Lifetime Ambassadors of Texas Children's Hospital. Six grandchildren keep things hopping on weekends with sporting events, dance recitals, and catching up with their longtime friends!

Jeff Paul Custom Homes continues to grow by building in Houston's premier neighborhoods, while staying rooted in integrity and hard work. Jeff and Diane are proud of their company's history, reputation, and the legacy that Ryan and Kevin will carry on.
